How Do You Redeem a Binance Earn Product Early? Locked vs. Flexible Explained

Binance Flexible Earn can be redeemed anytime instantly to your Spot account with no interest loss. Locked (fixed-term) redemptions depend on the product's rules — most support early redemption but you lose interest, while a few products are fully locked until maturity. This note documents our hands-on tests of the redemption flow across 8 Earn products.

Let's answer the headline directly: Binance Flexible Earn (Simple Earn Flexible) can be redeemed anytime, lands in your Spot account instantly, and doesn't touch your principal or cost you any interest. Locked Earn products (Simple Earn Locked) auto-redeem at maturity by default. Early redemption follows one of two rules — some allow "early redemption but you lose all interest earned so far," others "don't allow early redemption at all" — it depends on the rules set when that specific product launched. We ran hands-on tests at BabianLab on 8 common Earn products (USDT Flexible, BTC Flexible, SOL Locked, BNB Locked, and more) and documented every redemption path and the boundary of what you'd lose.

If you just subscribed idle USDT to Flexible Earn on the Binance Official Site hoping to pick up some interest, and now suddenly need it for a Spot order, the first section of this note has your answer. If you bought 30-day Locked BNB and want to know whether you can get it out early, the second section has the detailed rules.

Flexible Earn: Redeem Anytime, Lands Instantly

Binance's Flexible Earn (formerly "Binance Savings," renamed Simple Earn Flexible in 2022) is the most flexible savings product — you can subscribe or redeem at any time, with no lock-up period, and interest is calculated and paid out daily.

The 4 Steps to Redeem a Flexible Product

Step 1: Open the Earn Page

On the Official Binance App, tap "Earn" at the bottom → "Flexible" tab at the top → you'll see every Flexible product you're holding.

On desktop, from the Binance Official Site, go to the top menu → Earn → Flexible → "My Holdings."

Step 2: Choose the Product to Redeem

Each coin's Flexible product is shown separately — for example "USDT Flexible," "BTC Flexible," "BNB Flexible." Click the "Redeem" button on the right side of the row you want.

Step 3: Enter the Redemption Amount

You can redeem everything (click "Max") or redeem partially. The minimum redemption amount is generally 0.01 USDT, or 0.0001 BTC for BTC — check the specific rules for each product.

Step 4: Confirm the Deposit

Click "Confirm Redemption," and the funds land instantly in your Spot account (not your Funding account — note the distinction). Any interest already accrued is included with no loss.

How Flexible Interest Is Calculated

Flexible interest settles daily at UTC 0:00 for the previous day's holdings. If you subscribed 1,000 USDT to Flexible on the afternoon of April 25, you'd get your first interest payment at UTC 0:00 on April 26 (calculated proportionally to your holding time on April 25), and interest for each subsequent day is paid at UTC 0:00.

If you redeem on the afternoon of April 26, that day's interest is also paid out proportionally to your holding time — Binance is quite fair about this, unlike some platforms that don't pay interest for a partial day.

We've measured Flexible USDT APR at roughly 1.5-3%, Flexible BTC at 0.5-1%, and Flexible BNB at 1-2%. These rates float and adjust daily based on market demand.

Locked Products: Auto-Redeemed at Maturity, Early Redemption Depends on the Rules

Binance's fixed-term Locked products (Simple Earn Locked) lock your subscription for a set period (7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 120 days, etc.), and at maturity your principal plus all interest is automatically redeemed to your Spot account.

Locked Products Come in Two Types

Type Early Redemption What You Lose
Flexible-lock (tagged "early redemption allowed") Allowed Lose all accrued interest, principal returned in full
Strict-lock (no such tag) Not allowed Must wait until maturity

Always check the product tag carefully when subscribing — the "early redemption allowed" label sits in a small badge to the right of the product name.

Early Redemption Flow for a Flexible-Lock Product

Step 1: Find the Product

App bottom → "Earn" → "Locked" tab → "My Holdings" → find the product you want to redeem.

Step 2: Click Early Redemption

Each holding has an "Early Redemption" button on the right (if the product doesn't allow early redemption, this button is grayed out).

Step 3: Confirm the Loss

A pop-up will spell it out clearly: "Early redemption will forfeit X.XX USDT of accrued interest, and the 1,000 USDT principal will return to your Spot account."

Step 4: Confirm the Submission

After confirming, the principal lands in Spot instantly, and the interest goes to zero.

What to Do if Your Strict-Lock Product Doesn't Allow Early Redemption

If you bought a product that doesn't allow early redemption and you urgently need the funds, Binance offers two alternatives:

Option 1: Apply for a Collateralized Loan

A Locked holding can be used as collateral for a stablecoin loan on Binance. For example, if you've locked 1 BTC (90 days), you can borrow up to 80% of its value in USDT against it. Loan interest is typically 5-10% APR — often cheaper than forfeiting your interest. But it's a loan, and you have to pay it back by the due date.

Option 2: Transfer the Position (supported on some products)

Binance launched a "Locked Position Transfer" feature in 2024, letting you list your holding for another user to take over at a discounted price. Adoption has been low since launch, and not every product supports it.

Option 3: Wait for Maturity

The most straightforward option. If you have a 30-day Locked product and you're already 25 days in, waiting the remaining 5 days to collect the full interest is far better than redeeming early and forfeiting it.

Comparison Table of Different Earn Products

Product Lock-Up Period Rate (USDT example) Early Redemption Minimum Subscription
Flexible Simple Earn None 1.5-3% APR Anytime 0.1 USDT
7-Day Locked 7 days 3-5% Partially supported, loses interest 10 USDT
30-Day Locked 30 days 4-7% Partially supported, loses interest 100 USDT
60-Day Locked 60 days 5-8% Partially supported, loses interest 100 USDT
90-Day Locked 90 days 6-10% Mostly not supported 100 USDT
120-Day Locked 120 days 7-12% Almost never supported 500 USDT
Dual Investment (high-yield) Depends on product 20-100% APR Not supported 10 USDT equivalent
ETH Staking (BETH) Flexible 3-5% Exit by selling BETH 0.0001 ETH

Note: the rates above are observed values from April 2026 — actual rates float daily and are shown at the time of subscription.

Special Rules for Dual Investment and Launchpool

Dual Investment

Dual Investment is Binance's structured product — essentially "selling a call option" or "selling a put option." Rates are especially high (20%-100%+ APR), but so is the risk: if the price touches the strike price at maturity, your principal gets converted into the other asset.

Once you subscribe to Dual Investment, early redemption is impossible — you must wait for maturity. If you subscribed to a BTC Dual Investment, on the settlement date you must accept the outcome Binance settles at the strike price (either BTC or USDT — whichever is more favorable to Binance).

Launchpool

Launchpool is Binance's "stake BNB/FDUSD/TUSD to farm new tokens" product, typically running a 7-30 day staking period. Launchpool supports redemption anytime — redeeming stops future reward accrual, but any rewards already earned are paid out normally. This is more flexible than Locked products.

Where Redeemed Funds Go

Redeemed principal plus interest defaults to your Spot account (not Funding). If you want to do something else with it next:

  • Sell on C2C: transfer again, Spot → Funding (free, instant)
  • Place a Spot order: operate directly from the Spot account
  • Subscribe to another Earn product: subscribe directly — Binance deducts from your Spot account
  • Withdraw to an external wallet: go through the "Withdraw" flow from your Spot account

We covered the boundary between these two accounts in detail in What's the Difference Between the Binance Spot and Funding Account?.

Common Reasons Redemption Fails

Reason 1: The Product Is in Its "Interest Distribution Window"

Some fixed-term products distribute interest on a set day each month (e.g. the 1st). On that day, the redemption entry can be locked for around 30 minutes. It automatically re-opens once distribution is complete.

Reason 2: Your Account Is Under Risk Control

If your account is in a "partially restricted" state (e.g. within 24 hours of a password change, or KYC not yet complete), the redemption entry may be unavailable. You'll need to resolve the account issue first — see the Support category.

Reason 3: The Product Was Delisted

Sometimes Binance delists an Earn product (say, a Flexible product for an altcoin). Once delisted, holders are auto-redeemed — principal plus interest returns to the Spot account. You don't need to do anything in this case.

Reason 4: Network or System Delay

Very rare — a redemption shows "Processing" for over an hour without completing. If this happens, check Wallet → Transaction History → "Earn" category for the specific status, and file a ticket if needed (see Effective Ticket Format).

Example: Calculating the Loss From Early Redemption

Say you subscribed 1,000 USDT to a 30-day Locked product at 6% APR on April 1, and on April 16 (15 days in) you want to redeem early:

  • Interest accrued so far: 1000 × 6% × 15 / 365 = 2.46 USDT
  • Early redemption deducts: 2.46 USDT (all accrued interest is forfeited)
  • Actual amount credited: 1,000 USDT (principal returned in full)

If you held on until maturity on May 1 instead:

  • Total interest: 1000 × 6% × 30 / 365 = 4.93 USDT
  • Credited: 1,004.93 USDT

The cost of redeeming early is giving up the full 4.93 USDT in interest (the 2.46 already earned plus the remaining 2.47).

Redemption vs. Transfer — Don't Mix Them Up

"Redemption" of an Earn product and "transfer" between sub-accounts are two different operations:

Operation Meaning Entry Point
Redeem Take principal out of an Earn product (ends the savings) "Redeem" button on the Earn page
Transfer Move balance between sub-accounts "Transfer" button on the Wallet page

But once a redemption completes, you'll usually follow it with a transfer (for example, moving the USDT redeemed to Spot over to Funding to sell on C2C). These two actions can be done back-to-back — together they take less than 30 seconds.

Notes on Large Redemptions (100,000 USDT or More)

We haven't had the chance to test redemptions above 100,000 USDT, but according to Binance's official documentation:

  • Flexible redemptions have no per-order cap and land instantly
  • Early redemption of Locked products has no per-order cap, but cumulative daily redemptions exceeding 500,000 USDT equivalent may trigger manual review (delaying 30 minutes to 2 hours)
  • Withdrawing to the blockchain immediately after a large redemption can trigger "fund path risk control" — we recommend leaving 30+ minutes in between

FAQ

Q: Does Flexible redemption really not cost any interest? A: That's right — Flexible products settle daily, and any interest already accrued is included with the redemption. Principal loss is zero.

Q: When redeeming a Locked product early, does it deduct from the principal or the interest? A: It deducts from interest (all accrued interest is forfeited); your principal is returned in full and is never touched.

Q: Can Dual Investment be redeemed early? A: No — once you subscribe to Dual Investment, you must wait for the settlement date, at which point it settles into BTC or USDT at the strike price.

Q: Does Earn redemption go to my Spot account or my Funding account? A: Spot account by default. If you want to move it to Funding to sell on C2C, you'll need to do another transfer.

Q: Is there a fee for redemption? A: No, all Earn product redemptions are fee-free — only early redemption of fixed-term products costs you the interest.

Q: I accidentally subscribed to "90 days" when I meant "30 days" — can I change it? A: You can't change it, but you can follow the "early redemption" rules if that product supports early redemption. If it doesn't, you'll have to wait until maturity.

Q: Do I need to pay tax on Earn interest? A: Binance doesn't withhold anything — any interest income tax owed in your country/region is your own responsibility.

Q: Is redeeming through the Official Binance App any different from redeeming on desktop? A: No difference at all — the App and desktop share the same database and rules, so the redemption result is identical.
